making parts from plans

There are a few different methods floating around on the subject and I've tried them all with differing degrees of success. The method I've found most useful was one I developed myself out of shear frustration. All that is needed is your paper pattern, a glue stick and your wood.

First, cut out your paper pattern leaving at least 1/4'' around the pattern. Next, turn the pattern over and lightly apply the glue. Make sure all the lines you plan to cut along have glue on the back side. Place the pattern and carefully position it on the wood. I usually allow it to dry for a few seconds before cutting out the art with a sharp knife or scroll saw. Finally, remove the pattern from the finished part and sand smooth. That's it!
